梁爵荣先生曾在贵领事馆工作16年，1882年2月离开该职务就职于我处。到本月1号为止，他一直跟我在一起，这期间他给了我很大帮助。除了众所周知的诚实、坚定、勤奋、能干，我总发现凡是接触到他的人都认可他的善解人意。……只是由于结束中国工程与挖掘合同……我很遗憾得将他解职。我想您可能有若干领事服务的职位，如果您能为他要养活一大家人而帮他一把，我不胜感激。
