November 27th, 1911,140, Harley Street

My dear Dr.Sun,

You should apply to Sir Arthur Ruyvet Wilson G.C.B.K.C.M.G.1st Sea Lord for your best man who will arrange your navy captain.George Borsete of the Ramillies is a first class man & a friend of ours.He was through the Boxer rebellion & has been twice in China & is a thoroughly up to date man & particularly wishes to go to China so if you have not already arranged matters you might like to think of him.

Colonel Maude is coming to see us on Thursday. He says he is going out to join you & wants to meet us before he goes.

We had an incident happen this evening.A Chinaman came in a cab to the door & asked for the Doctor. He was in the greatest distress & said his name was Hin Tsu Hwang, & that he had come from Glasgow & had been learning aeroplauing at Lanark. He had a long & excited interview & we made out that another Chinaman who was a bad fellow had tried to attack him & had threatened to shoot him with a pilot, but ere he could draw it, Hwang struck him evidently.Hwang feared last he had hurt the man for he rushed off & jumped into a cab & came here.We have never seen him before or he us, he said he must go to Paris for fear of the police. We tried to comfort him & to persuade him to stay here, but he asked for £5, & said he must go.He knew no one in Paris, so I got the Japanese man who is still in London to come, & take him to Charing Cross, buy his ticket, & get French money, & give him an address to whom he could go in Paris, & to wait there until we could draw the money he had in the post office savings bank to forward to him.Poor fellow he was in such a state of anxiety that I put on one of the Doctors hats & a fresh tie, & burnt his own hat & tie, so that he would not be known by them, & took all his letters & papers with his name on away in case he was stopped. He wanted to find you out and thought you were in Berlin. He says this other man was a political rogue that he so alarmed another young fellow that he drowned himself at Liverpool.

Hwang has written a letter to the legation here, & has asked me to post it tonight after he has gone.So I will, as he has got safely away. The Doctor wanted to knew how he came to us.But he said he had our name in his mind for a longtime, & our address, too.

Well we hope he will follow you out, & be safe.It is hard for a young lad to be away from home when he has such an unpleasant experience.

May all prosperity follow you.We see that Yuan cannot get a Cabinet at all.

With warm regards.

Yours sincerely,

Mabel Barclay Cantlie
