Honorable Sir：
Permit me to extend congratulations in your triumphant election to the most exalted office within the gift of a grateful nation.
I take this liberty presuming that you recall our acquaintance which began some fifteen years ago， through our mutual friend Mr.Tom Lee， when I had the drug-store at the corner of Canal St.and Bowery.
Accept my heartiest wishes for a most successful administration， and trusting that history will accord you the high honor and distinction your patriotic services to your country deserve.
