Dr.Sun Yat Sen.

Dear Sir,

For some time I have been anxious to write to you.A friend said to me, “Are you interested in Dr.Sun?” I replied, “My whole nature goes out in prayer for him.”

The Almighty has led you through so many years of suffering and work, that one earnestly desires, the crown may now be put upon it all in the salvation of China. For forty five years I have been connected with mission work at Amoy, and I know the burning zeal of the Chinese in South China for such magnificent effort as you are making.

I have met with a famous Chinese who made his way in Britain, and was baptized into the Christian faith. But, under the overpowering influence of Confucianism, his position became greatly weakened. He might have had the whole of the Christians in China at his back for his noble efforts in doing good.Instead of that, amongst thousands of Christians, he was regarded as anti-Christ.May our Lord and Saviour sustain you in the efforts that may be made to weaken your Christian power.Doubtless all the Christians in China will back you up with all their might.Ever the whole Christian world you will be prayed for most fervently.

Now that I am in England, if you can give me any material to spread abroad, views, which you may like to promulgate, I shall regard myself as highly honored to be at your service.

Some time ago in French and English newspapers you were reported as saying, that as soon as the Republican Flag floats over Peking, woman would be given a legal status, and her position generally be improved.

For many months I have been at work in regard to the uplift of Chinese women and girls. My present effort is to establish a University College for women in connection with Lord William Cecil's University to be started in Central China.Any instruction you can give me on this or any other matter, affecting the good of women in China, will be greatly valued.

Earnestly hoping to receive a word of sympathy from you.

I am,Yours faithfully,

Jas.Sadler
