New Year's Eve, 1911
Dear Dr.Sun-Yat-Sen,
I wonder whether you remember me? Just fifteen years ago you lived with my husband and myself on Xmas Day at 61 Inns losangle Terrace.Mr.See is no longer with us, having passed away to a better world more than thirteen years ago now.
My daughter and I have been deeply interested to see from the papers that you have been elected President of the great Chinese Republic, and we offer you our hearty congratulations.You have indeed been called to a high destiny and we trust that God's best blessing may rest upon you, so that you may be equal to all the duties and responsibilities indeed such an important office must entered.
It is indeed a source of great rejoicing to us that it has pleased God in his infinite wisdom to call on Christian to guide the flute of such a great Empire as China.Our heartfelt prayers are with you, and we earnestly hope that your efforts for the glory of God and the good of your people may be crowned with success.

我女儿和我一直对您十分关注,我们从报纸上看到您被选为伟大中华民国的总统,向您表达热烈祝贺。您被召唤承担崇高使命,我们相信上帝最美好的祝福会加诸于您,因此您能承担这个重要职位所必须面临的所有义务与责任。
对我们而言这的确是一种巨大的欣喜,在神无穷智慧的召唤下,基督徒吹响引导伟大中华帝国的笛声——我们的热烈祈祷与您同在,我们热忱希望您为荣耀神与人民的福祉所做的努力都获得成功。
