To Dr.Sun Yat Sen，Nanking.
Dear Sir，
I send a Registered letter， address to you to Shanghai， some weeks ago， and hope it has reached you safety.In it you found my two designs， one for a National flag for the Chinese Republic， the other a coat of Arms for the new Republic.As mentioned then， I am no artist， nor have I had the right materials.The enclosed Duplicate of the above referred to design have the bright red and green colours， as suggested in my last letter.
I mentioned already that the Flags of other Nations are so much alike in the distance， and many are copies of another.The only thing to mention yet is， that the shape of shield for the Coat of Arms also is quite unique， and not used by any other nation.The Rising Sun could be used over the shield， in place of a crown.As mentioned in last letter， the stars in the flag and shield could be longer in proportion， so as to have as many points as there are states in your Republic.

几周前，我寄了一封挂号信给您，地址是上海，希望您顺利收到。信中您会发现我的两个设计，一个是中华民国的国旗，另一个是新共和国的国徽。如前所述，我既非艺术家，也没有合适的材料。随信附上上述的副本设计，有鲜艳的红色和绿色，正如我在上一封信中所建议的。
我已经提到过，其他国家的国旗远看是如此相似，许多是另一国的复制品。唯一要提的是，国徽的盾形非常独特，与其他任何国家不同。在盾形纹章上，可以用太阳升起来代替王冠。上封信也提到过，旗帜和纹章上的星星在比例上可以更长一些，以便有更多的点来代表共和国的各省。
