Telegraphic address
“FEE”
Macao, 11 January, 1912
My dear Dr.Sun,
It is over 18 years since we have last shaked our hands when you departed from this place, with full courage and optimism for the great struggle of shaking off with the Manchu's yoke; and during that time, I have often had great desire to write to you, but I was unable to do so, as your address could not be inquired about.
Now, I have the greatest pleasure to present my congratulation for your success and to your election to the Presidency of the Chinese Republic, a thing—I must confess—which I never dreamt to have opportunity to have so soon the final approach to victory, full of buoyancy and enthusiasm.
Your constancy, tenacity and unfailing courage are admired by the whole world, and you are one of the privileged person that the Almighty has bestowed with the power of revolutionizing the humanity!
Yet, you have a great task before you, but I am confident that you will continue to push forward with unrelenting vigour, to the ultimate desirous end for the emancipation of the Great Han.By your side marches the general Homer Lea, just the man to help to develop the object of such a case, and almost everywhere is heard the pean of impending triumph.
Presently, in my poor opinion, it is essentially now that immediate steps shall be taken to stop the continuance and abuse of these private chiefs—in Canton to recruit—what they call themselves—Republic Soldiers, as they will blunder everything into an entangling situation.
I limit myself to write you only these few lines, as I am not yet sure whether this letter will reach you safely.I am now an alderman of the Loyal Senate and I beg to offer myself to any service on information that may be of use to you great enterprise, and I hope that our old friendship may be now recovered again, individually and nationally; Portugal and China, the two old friendly nations have become two Republics within a year!
It is admirable!
Please let me know whether you area member of the fraternity of freemasons, and also the surest way to forward my letters to you.
Meantime, friendly accept once more my best wishes for the realization of your great scheme and with my best compliment of the season.
Yours very Sincerely,
F.H.Fernandes (飞南第)
