To the President，Republic of China，Nanking.
Dear Sir，
Learning that the capital of the Republic of China， is been established in Nanking and also happening to read this old poem of Li Tai-Pei.I thought I would make a translation of it， in case you should deign to accept it.
Since Li Tai-pei time Nanking has seen some more kingdoms rise; may the old city now witness a new glorious dawn， ushered in by this great Republic.
I send my hearty well wishes.

尊敬的先生：
得知中华民国的首都要设在南京时，我正巧在读李太白的古诗。我想可以把它翻译出来，也许您会屈尊接受。
李太白时代的南京已经见证了一些王朝的崛起，但愿这座古城而今见证这个伟大共和国迎来新的辉煌开端。
