Liang Hwai Mid.School,Yangchow,January 16th,1912
Dr.Sung Ih Sien,President of China,Nanking.
Dear Sir,
With great pleasure and deep appreciation, I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your favorable reply dated 11th inst.—which is the greatest sort of honor that a President could possibly confer on commons.
As regards the service that I beg to offer I mean voluntary and gratis one.I know that China expects every young man to do his duty and I feel I must have my long cherished wishes carried out.So here may I have the liberty to ask you whether any sort of preliminary contest is necessary before I am admitted to Service?
When your demonstration comes, I shall start for Nanking right after the close of the school.
I remain,Dear Sir,Your Obedient Servant,
Zan Pung Zoen
