I beg to thank you on behalf of Mrs.Hardoon and myself for your kind invitation on Monday last and the cordial reception accorded to us which at Nanking. We have enjoyed our visit very much indeed and appreciate your kindness accordingly.
When your family come up to Shanghai, please give us the pleasure of welcoming them at our place, we have ample accommodation to put them up and Mrs.Hardoon will do her best to make them comfortable—Our place is also at your service and we shall be delighted whenever you honour us with a visit.Regarding a loan on landed property at Nanking, I find the banks have unwilling to entertain the idea at present, I shall however keep the matter in mind in case & favorable opportunity arises.
With kind regards and best wishes.
