My dear Sir：

I am directed by the president to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 27th inst.， and to thank you for your detailed accounts of the movements of the Imperial troops in the neighborhood of Ling Huai Kwan.

I am sure the President will be pleased to see Mr.Hunt when he comes up to Nanking.
