To the President of the Republic of China.
Sir，
I hope you won't take any offensive at me addressing you， as I am one of the Ge Kung Nong's officers from Australia & had obey up hill fight there to get registered， a missionary， the name of Sung Zuong， tried to have us arrested & deported， but I fought him through the Press， & the Colonel Secretary registered our society， we united the Australians to join us， there were only two who joined， however， we got in all about 500 members now.I am one of the Hung Kwun Sheau， I would like to see our society changed to be the Republican Party， I have all the names registered， I am sure in that way we could beat any other Party Politically， give them all electors rights， the member at least in the South must exceed 5,000,000.In that way， we could keep our party on power， & assist in the honest administration， which is of vital importance to the first government， otherwise there will be trouble.I may state that I am a mining Engineer of 30 years， standing， metallurgy of gold， silver， copper， tin， autonomy & practical mining， also machinery chemistry of manufacturers processes， of which I send two receipts of Tings of manufactured & sent to Nanking， last year to the Exhibition， I left at the same time for Manchuria to prospect for gold， so I have not heard about the result.I only arrived at Shanghai yesterday morning， from Kirin City， I was very near arrested by the commander for being a republican， only for the governor， & two other Cantonese， I would have certainly been shot， the people are very ignorant up there， it would be quite easy to convert them to republicanism， they don't want to be disturbed that is all.I have also studied municipal， & self-government for 30 years， the laws of Australia.My father was a mat of 1,000 members， so we have succeed the overthrow of the Manchus， for two generations， so I hope you will consider me worthy of some consideration， there is one thing certain you can trust your men to death， my middle finger of the left hand， the blood of which has been drawn.So you may trust me to watch over your life， I am capable of advising on any matter， my age is 46， the young men of China are fully of enthusiasm， but when it comes to administration， you want older & experienced men， as your policies is to allow the country to be opened up with the help of foreign capital， in my opinion， it will be necessary to appoint men who will not obstruct the Europeans in legitimate enterprise.Compatible with the laws of the Republic.In that case I am capable of administrating the mining industry， without 10 years practical mining experiences it would be improper， as it would be dangerous to prove it will over the country， & robbering the people by inexperienced engineers.So it is necessary to examine every one who wishes to prospect any district， they could not pass me without experiences， in that way， you would be doing a duty to the country.At present I am out of work， I can only stay a few days in Shanghai， before return to Canton.I see you beat the dogs on the 5th inst.& killed over a thousand & took 200 prisoners， we all know the great work you have done for the country in keeping the foreign powers neutral.They were all affright & thought the foreign powers would step in， but I told them all I had faith in you long before you came home.I could trust Dr.Wong of Kirin， under my admire， he is a Heang Shan man.Please return the two Receipts， be careful if you go to Tien Tsin， you must have your own security men， as body guards， also cook， boys， etc.
In conclusion， I wish you a long life & happiness， & long to reign over our Repulic.

先生：

我是一名有着30年经验的采矿工程师，从事金、银、铜、锡冶金自动化与开采操作，也包括机械、化学生产过程。去年我曾把两个锡矿样品和产品送到南京参加展览，然后我到满洲里淘金，所以我不知道后来的结果。我昨天上午从吉林市抵达上海，我差点因为是共和党人而被指挥官逮捕。要不是因为总督与另外两个广东人，我肯定被射杀了。那里的人很无知，很容易将他们认作共和主义者。他们不想被打扰，仅此而已。我还研究有关澳大利亚的市政自治法规达30年。我父亲有一个拥有1000个成员的团体，所以我们是成功推翻清王朝的两代人，我希望您会觉得我值得考虑。有一点可以肯定，您应相信您的人能为您效死，我以血起誓。所以您可以相信我能看护您的生活，可以就任何问题提供建议，我今年46岁。中国的年轻人充满了热情，但当涉及治理，您得指望年长和经验丰富的人。由于您的政策是允许在外国资本的帮助下开放国家，我认为，有必要任命那些不会阻碍欧洲人从事合法事业的人。这符合共和国的法律规定。在这种情况下，我有能力管理矿业。没有10年实际开采经验就从事管理是相当危险的，那将任由无经验的工程师剥削人民。因此，有必要考察每一个希望勘探任何地区的人，他们缺乏经验就不能通过我的检查。以这种方式，你就会对这个国家承担起责任。
目前我没工作了，返回广州之前我只能在上海停留几天。我看到在本月5号你们杀一儆百，杀死超过1000人并逮捕200个囚犯。我们都知道您在保持外国势力中立方面为国家所作的伟大工作。他们惊恐万分，并认为外国势力会介入，但我早在您回国之前就告诉他们我对你充满信心。我相信吉林的王博士，佩服他，他是一个香山人。请归还那两张收据。如果您去天津得小心，必须有自己的安保人员作为保镖，还有厨师、仆役，等等。
总之，祝您长寿和幸福，长期治理我们的共和国。
