Dr.Sun Yat Sen,President of the Republic of China,NANKING.
Sir,
re YU NING GOVERNMENT BANK.
We understand from H.B.M.Consul at Nanking that the above Bank discontinued business when the city was taken by the republican forces and we further understand that the affairs of the bank have been transferred to the Ta Ching Bank under your auspices and shall therefore esteem it a favor if you can let us know when and how we may obtain refund of deposits made with the first above mentioned bank.
We have in our possession two Bank books showing deposits amounting to over $9,000 which we are anxious should be refunded before the 18th inst.Should it be necessary for us to come to Nanking in person and produce the pass books in order to obtain the monies, needless to say we will do so on hearing from you.
On 23rd January we addressed the Treasury Dept on this subject but as no reply has been received so far, we thought that you would pardon us in addressing you, as though we know that you have matters of far greater importance claiming your attention, we nevertheless hope that you will be able to give this small matter some consideration and reply.
Thanking you in anticipation for your courtesy and apologizing for troubling you.
Yours faithfully,
Calder Marshall
