Sir，
I would beg the President to present me with one of his best photographs.It must appear thoughtless of me to trouble President Sun Yat Sen at such a busy time， but my reasons (given here under) I feel sure will be sufficient explanation to him.

I am the honorary Treasurer of an Italian Charitable Society in Shanghai.One of our poorest Italians here is a modeller of statuettes—he barely earns a living.It is the intention of my Society， to send the President's photograph to a capable artist in Europe， who would reproduce the image in a small statue， and the Society would pay for the expense.This small statue will be given to our poor man here in Shanghai， and he would cast there from many reproductions and thus earn a living.
As this is entirely a charitable action I feel sure the President will pardon the originality of the request.

我想恳请总统给我一张他最好的照片。我在这么忙的时候给孙逸仙总统找麻烦似乎是欠考虑的，但我肯定我的理由（在下面给出）会对他做出充分的解释。

我是在上海的意大利慈善协会的名誉会计。我们这里最贫穷的意大利人中的一位，靠塑雕像勉强过活。我们协会的目的是，把总统的照片寄给一个能干的欧洲艺术家，创造出一个小雕像，协会会支付费用。这个小雕像将提供给我们这个在上海的可怜穷人进行大量复制，以此谋生。
由于这完全是一种慈善行为，我相信总统能理解这一请求的创意。
