Yang Qiwen’s former residence, built during Qing Emperor Tongzhi’s reign, is a typical local traditional big residence. It has three yards and three bays, blue brick walls and gabbled roofs. For moisture and theft prevention, a 1.6-meter-high granite slab base is provided for all outer walls in the front and on both sides, the highest among all civil residences in the village.Owner Yang Qiwen (1825~1909)was appointed as athird-rank ministerby imperial mandate, andwas the richest man in the village then.This residence is also known as “Residence Four” because Yang Qiwen ranks fourth among his brothers.
