Yang Zhenyi Hall

 

The Yang Zhenyi Hall is located in Cuiheng Village, Nanlang Town, built in the mid and late Qing dynasty, with a building area of 628 square meters, being a typical local traditional big residence. Its builder Yang Qiheng (1826~1866) was an official counselor in the Qing dynasty. His son Yang He was a childhood playmate of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, and a member of the Chinese Revolutionary League in Honolulu. The hall has three yards and three bays, symmetric about the central axis, foursquare and solemn. There is a couplet on the concave gate with a granite door frame. There are fine plaster molded and color painting ornaments below the eaves, and the front wall is made up of smooth polished green bricks, and looks noble; there are colorful Western-style plaster molded ornaments on the lintels on both sides; a wooden tablet of “Zhenyi Hall” is hung in the front hall; the portraits of Yang Qiheng’s father Yang Yexun and his wife are hung on both sides of the main hall; there are well-preserved Manchu windows with wood inlays on both sides of the second yard;the yard is planted with Guangdong flowers and trees, looking quiet and elegant.

In September 2009, the Yang Zhenyi Hall was listed as a key protected cultural relic of Zhongshan City.
