This year’s May Day holiday was the first small long holiday after China’s pandemic prevention and control became routinized. We implemented all prevention, control and service measures, including visitor volume control, gathering prevention, prevention and scientific planning, to ensure that the whole museum operated safely, steadily and orderly during the whole holiday.
To cope with pandemic dissemination risks arising from peak visitor volumes, we developed a contingency plan for opening before the holiday, practiced a leadership attendance system to strengthen the performance of work duties, implemented all prevention and control measures strictly to realize opening in good order under visitor volume control, and released opening notices through our official website, WeChat public account and other publicity platforms, reminding visitors to pay close attention to our reservation dynamics and make preparations in advance.
During the May Day holiday, we complied strictly with the requirements of the Notice of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the National Health Commission on Doing a Good Job in the Pandemic Prevention and Control, and Safe and Orderly Opening of Scenic Spots, thus the number of visitors received per day did not exceed 30% of the maximum carrying capacity, the number of reservations per hour during the opening hours was about 400, and the instantaneous accepted visitors were not more than 600 visitors throughout the museum. We practiced free admission subject to online real-name reservation, promoted the use of the green “Yuekang code” access system, kept optimizing the visit environment and the admission route, guided visitors to queue up, take a temperature and visit our museum orderly, and created a safe and comfortable visit environment for visitors.
In order ensure visitors have a tour in our museum with assurance and comfort, we set up many temporary volunteer service points at our museum, providing volunteer services for civilized travel to visitors, including admission guidance, visit consulting and visit guidance. We also offered “contactless” smart services with full free Wi-Fi coverage in public areas, so that visitors could enjoy scientific, friendly and satisfactory smart navigation services such as “WeChat voice navigation”, “AR interaction” and “museum 3D panorama” by scanning QR code and login with mobile phone, and they come in high spirits and return with great satisfactions. During the May Day holiday, we received 12,059 men-times of visitors in total.
