Lu Haodong (1867-1895) was also known as Zhonggui and Xianxiang. He was from Cuiheng Village, Xiangshan (today's Zhongshan), Guangdong. He was Dr. Sun Yat-sen's fellow villager and intimate friend, and a loyal follower and good helper of Sun's early-year revolutionary activities. He was arrested and killed in the 1895 Guangzhou Uprising – the first anti-Qing armed uprising organized by the Revive China Society, and renowned by Dr. Sun Yat-sen as “the first person sacrificing for the republican revolution in China's history”..

Lu Can (1874-1952) was a member of the Revive China Society and a famous overseas Chinese leader in Honolulu, and contributed greatly to the organization and fund-raising of the revolution..
